Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). TCM is a system of healthcare that has evolved over thousands of years to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease. TCM believes that the body’s vital energy, called Qi (pronounced chi), flows along specific channels or meridians. If the Qi is balanced then the person has spiritual, emotional, and physical health. But when the Qi isn’t in balance, disease may occur.

There are up to 2,000 known acupuncture points. They are linked through the various meridians. The use of acupuncture on certain points within the meridians aids inĀ  improving the flow of blocked or stagnant qi thus restoring the movement of Qi and improving health.

The practice of acupuncture includes placing thin needles into the skin on certain points of a meridian and stimulating the needles to activate the flow of Qi. Acupuncture is effective in treating many conditions including generalised pain or pain within a muscle or joint. It can alleviate digestive issues such as bloating, IBS and other inflammatory conditions. It can ease headaches and regulate mensturation. Many seek acupuncture to aid with fertility treatment and pregnacy. It is a very supportive and non invasive therapy that is suitable for everyone.
